The mind
The mind is the part of a person that thinks, feels, notices, and decides. It is the “inner world” where thoughts, memories, images, and emotions happen.
Basic idea
The mind is what lets a person understand things, remember the past, imagine the future, and choose what to do. It is not the same as the brain’s physical tissue, but it depends on the brain to work.
What the mind does
The mind covers many activities, such as:

Remembering facts and events, having feelings like joy or fear, and reasoning about choices.
Mind, brain, and self
The brain is the physical organ; the mind is the set of mental processes that run on it, like software on hardware. The mind is also where a person’s sense of “me” lives, tying together memories, preferences, and personality into a feeling of being the same person over time.
