I’m a counselling student in the UK who loves the concept of self-transcendence. I’m convinced that many aspects of mental illness are actually misunderstood symptoms of transcendence. My own journey started off through self-introspection, which lead to my discovering I was hearing voices, some of which identified as demons, and as a result I was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. However, rather than try to escape from these terrible experiences, I continued my inner dialogue and over time, all my voices became aspects of my joyful and transcendent self.

Obviously, this is my personal experience, but it drew me to psychology, and the more I learnt, the more I could see that I’ve only ever been on a self-transcendent journey, a journey which hit huge scary lows, before I turned the corner and my inner adversaries became inner supporters.

I want to encourage research and community regarding self-transcendence, and I’ve built this site to further that aim.
