Lesson Five
Thinking with Intention
If you sit with your thoughts and listen, you may well find that they are racing; trying far to hard to do something, while causing you to do nothing. They can race wild some days and in this course, you will learn to guide them, with your intention.
With my intention, I can choose what I will think and do,
Then I can be my own guide to, and be an example, to my ego.
I can show it that I believe in myself,
And bring myself, to my best health.
Ego will soon pick up this new flow,
And onwards, and upwards, together, we will go.
Intentional thinking means that you get to choose thoughts on purpose. You will shape and guide them, for your own, best-good.
Why does it matter so much? Well, once you know that you and your ego are a team, you will start to see that it is a winning team. Rather than you tripping up each other, working together will bring you a life that feels clear and strong. You will dodge or handle life’s hurdles. Goals will start to come true more quickly.
How do you do it? Start with a breath. Pick one thought to hold. Say it out loud. Say it with certainty, know that it is true, know that together, team you, will win through.
Example one: You fear a big talk. Think this: “I speak clear. I share truth well.” Repeat this three times slowly. Feel strength and certainty fill your chest. Make sure, though, that you do not avoid preparing for that talk. When you make such promises to yourself, make absolutely sure that you follow through.
Example two: Work drags you down. Think this: “Each task builds my skill. I grow with each step.” Let it sink deep in. This way, you see that this work is a way to the end-goal of that best you. Think of how this work, and the expertise that you can develop, will help you, with every step.
Self-doubt, however can break it all. That tiny voice that says, “You will fail.” can cause you to lose all motivation. But also, think of it like this: If a part of you thinks you will fail, perhaps it has a better plan? Do not let those doubting thoughts pull your good thoughts down. But always remember, to be gentle with all of yourself, including those self-doubting thoughts.
Spot doubt quick. Name it, explore it, but do not buy into it. Why are you doubting yourself? Can it be doen better? Is this an old fear of something repeating?
Self-Trust
Self-trust fits right in. It grows from your small wins. You journal, build habits, think clear. Each step proves you can change. Trust says, “I know my strength.”
Trust in one’s self builds over time,
It takes much trying, hence that needed time.
It is not something that can be bought,
But, on this course, it will be taught
You will need to have patience, and wait
Until you start finding yourself in that self-trusting state.
In fact it is the opposite of that,
Why Self-Trust Beats Doubt
When doubt creeps, it can softly whisper, “I can’t do this.” Self-trust, is something that once built, stands tall, and it is built with experience: all that trying and trying, for example, helps you trust that you do not give up so easily. And then, all those small successes, they stand tall, they say, “Look at what I did.” Past proof of dealing with new stuff, quickly kills fear, of now stuff.
Be very careful with the intentions that you set. Trust in the process, and do not set intentions that may not be possible to deliver. You are not able to see into your future. Your future intentions much therefore allow for “The best self”, not just the one that you can currently imagine.
Build It Step by Step
Start with tiny tasks: make your bed, walk for 20 minutes. Start with things that you know that you can do at first. Then, start to stretch your intention, to things that may be more difficult, or new.
Lesson Affirmation

Set yourself a firm intent to become the best self that you can be. Set another intention to trust yourself to deliver this best self. Add another intent, to avoid turning doubts into truth. Write these down. Put them in a place where you will see them, every day.
