Openness
Openness is the quality of being willing to consider new ideas, experiences, and points of view. It shows up as curiosity rather than immediate rejection or defensiveness.
What openness means
A person with openness will say things like “Tell me more” or “I hadn’t thought of it that way” instead of instantly shutting something down. Openness does not mean agreeing with everything; it means giving new information a fair hearing before deciding what to think or do.
How openness looks in everyday life
Openness can show in trying new activities, listening carefully to different opinions, or questioning one’s own assumptions. It helps with learning, creativity, and relationships, because it makes it easier to adapt, solve problems in new ways, and understand where other people are coming from.
