What is Reasoning?

Reasoning

Reasoning is the mind’s way of thinking things through so it can reach a sensible conclusion. It means using facts or information, putting them together, and deciding what follows from them instead of just going with impulse or habit.

Asking Why?

Reasoning is what happens when someone asks “Why?” or “What should I do?” and then carefully thinks about the answer. It is used to solve problems, weigh pros and cons, and check whether something makes sense.

Styles of reasoning

People use different styles of reasoning, like starting from a general rule and applying it to a case, or noticing patterns in examples and guessing a general rule. All of these are versions of the same basic idea: taking what is known, thinking about it step by step, and coming to a conclusion that fits.
