The amygdala is a part of the brain that is involved in emotional processing, memory formation, and fear responses. It is located in the temporal lobe, near the hippocampus. The amygdala consists of two almond-shaped clusters of neurons that receive inputs from various sensory modalities and send outputs to different brain regions. The amygdala plays a key role in regulating emotions such as anger, anxiety, happiness, and sadness.
